Resident Evil, Vol. 1: The Marhawa Desire

Even though a few things happened in Resident Evil: Marhawa Desire Volume #1, it really felt more like an introduction than its own volume.
I can tell that this was serialized before it was put in book form, and I wish they would have edited it before publishing because every chapter has a 'recap' that exactly repeats what I just read a page earlier. It reminded me of the 'suspenseful' moment that's repeated before and after a commercial in a TV show, except I was reading the story in book form so there was no natural break in between chapters and the recaps were redundant. This repetition plus the 'light writing' made this a quick and unsatisfying read, but I'm looking forward to the second volume and hoping that it's better at bringing the action and answering some questions.
By far, the best part of this volume is the art. It is inhumanly smooth and shiny, like it was digitally rendered, cel shaded, and printed to paper. The art style is reminiscent of video games "Catherine" and "Fire Emblem: Awakening."
TL;DR: Writing is fluffy and didn't feel like a full volume, but the art is pretty.
