An Unquenchable Thirst: Following Mother Teresa in Search of Love, Service, and an Authentic Life by Mary Johnson

3.0

2.5 stars. An inside look at Mother Therese's MIssionaries of Charity from a 20 year vet who finally left the order. It should come as no surprise that the order is emotionally dysfunctional, and leads to a dysfunctional spirituality. Serving the poorest of the poor is noble, but strict obedience to the rule fosters what we used to call "power trips," and those always lead to abuse. Fascinating but kind of masochistic (did you know the MC's practice self-flagellation) and about a 100 pages too long as Ms Johnson repeats the same sins, doubts, and confessions over and over.
