  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

4.5

  • I love Xie Lian, he has so much more character in the novel than in the donghua. I can't wait to read the next novels to unravel his past and how he'll process it.
  • Hua Cheng is EVERYTHING!!! He is so funny with how witty and sarcastic he is. I love how gentle and earnest he is with Xie Lian. He is so mysterious and I need to know how he got his comeup. The fact that he made 33 gods nonexistent makes me giggle, I love that for him.
  • The worldbuilding is interesting and does a good job at setting up the rest of the novels and uncovering the flaws within the Heavenly realm.
  • I'm confused on a few things but maybe reading more will help. Thank god for the glossary.
  • The Banyue arc was surprisingly decent, it didn't drag like it did in the donghua. Banyue, just bless her heart.
  • I thought it would be more visually descriptive, in terms of the characters appearance and their clothing, but that's more of a preference.
  • Nan Feng and Fu Yao are fine tagalongs.
  • CANT WAIT FOR MORE WINDMASTER.
  • I'm gonna reread Xie Lian and Hua Cheng's conversations, they're so endearing. Their iconic first meeting in the woods, SCREAMING. When Hua Cheng carried Xie Lian in the pit, ALSO SCREAMING.
