The Prisoner of Paradise by Rob Samborn

4.0

This novel was always going to be a winner for me because of my love of Venice. Add a couple of protagonists who smack of the truths of marriage and I was definitely hooked. I don’t know whether the author is familiar with the city or has just done their research, but the Venice in the novel was believable and recognisable. The concept of a dual-timeline thriller with an ancient order who operate in the shadows was brilliant and the feeling of containment that Venice offers accentuated the peril even more.

I enjoyed this novel immensely and rooted for Nick and Julia the whole way through.
