Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts I and II
by Jack Thorne
(4.5 stars to be accurate)
Oh my, where do I begin? I loved this book, I really did. I am a potterhead through and through and I am so very loyal to this fandom. So okay, I read my first Harry Potter book at age 6, when the first book was translated to danish, which is my native language. I had just started school and reading wasn't something I was that good at yet, so it took me a while to read the book. But that didn't mean that I liked the book any less, no I LOVED IT! Even remember reading those last scenes, completely unable to put it down. That was the day I decided that Harry Potter was the sh*t!!
So ofc, being raised along side Harry, Ron, Hermione and all the other Hogwarts Students, I've always felt like I belonged to this world. Now being (well in a month) 21, reading THE EFFING 8th HARRY POTTER BOOK, I couldn't be happier! I had my doubts about this, and I felt like this book could have ruined so much, but it didn't at all.
Meeting all the characters 19 years later was everything. Everytime someone from the first seven books were mentioned, I felt so happy. These were the characters I've loved for so many years, and they are all succesful and happy. What more can you ask for?
And then meeting the new characters, especially Albus and Scorpius was a blast. I'm a Gryffindor and I've never been particulary fond of Slytherin. Yes, Slytherin House also has some great abbilities, but have to be honest an say, I wasn't a fan... Well, that's changed. Scorpius was like the best thing ever, I was even glad to read about Draco, and I felt my self actually liking him. Like whaaaat?
Can't argue with the fact that there were some plot holes, but remember guys, this was the manuscript version, and I believe the play couldn't be any different, and it'll all make sense on stage (REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT PLAY BTW, YOU CAN INVITE ME NO PROBLEM). Despite those plot holes, I ended up loving the plot. At first I was a little confused, but using time travel was a great way to get some of the original Harry Potter story into it. Make fans get their fix and all. The absolute best thing about the time travelling was ofc having Severus Snape back for a short while, my beautiful Snape, who I love so much. Having him back just made everything amazing. His character in this book was just brilliant!!
Like everyone else, who's read this book, I cried my eyes out in the ending. It was so damn beautiful, and I definitely wanted more! J.K Rowling could make 7 books about Albus and Scorpius if she wanted to, I WOULD READ THEM.
Only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was that it took me some time to figure everything out, probably because it's a script, and I'm saving the 5 stars for the real book when it comes out. Loved it so much. Potterhead, over an out.
