The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
5.0
This is one of my favourite books. Haig has created an engaging, original commentary on mental health and death. I believe he has a very special way of approaching themes surrounding mental health and psychology.
I think that most people who have struggled with their mental health can appreciate this book. I thought that it was the perfect balance between fiction and psychology/self-help. I think that it is common for readers to see a book labelled ‘self-help’ and immediately turn away, but I urge everyone, regardless of their mental health and past to give this a go, as it's so much more than your average self-help.
Haig writes very well, and this book is easy to read and understand, even the more complex underlying concepts. The plot of this book is so special, I found it unique and thought-provoking.
I recommend this book for EVERYONE 14+, but especially those of us who may have struggled with our mental health. It’s a 5/5 star read for me, but make sure to have a look at the trigger warnings before reading.
