The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle
3.0

Despite having read all the Sherlock Holmes I could get my hands on as a child, I don't remember ever having read this book. I enjoyed it. Some of the initial twists were a complete surprise, and I liked the extended narrative in America (which reminded me in format of Study in Scarlet). The novel is a touch confusing, coming in publication order after the Return of Sherlock Holmes (3rd collection of sort stories) but set some time before "The Final Problem," which is in the 2nd collection.

Still, overall, a fun read.
