The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton

4.0

**3.5**
I love the first book very much, but I feel like, while this book was good, it wasn't as great as the first book, which could always be the classic case of the sophomore slump.

Dhonielle does excellent with the imagery she creates for the world of Orleans. It is hard to categorize this book as strictly just a fantasy novel, as there are a bit of dystopian vibes sprinkled in here.

I still do love this series because Dhonielle has given us a story concept that has never been done before in this way. It is like the ability to alter your look that Uglies proved with the hatred of our protagonist that President Snow gives in Hunger Games.
