The Summer Children
by Dot Hutchison
This is the third in a series about a team from the FBI and their investigations into (fictional) serial killers, as well as their personal relationships with each other and the victims/families. Each book focuses more on a specific character and their background more in depth, while simultaneously and very fluidly pulling the overall storyline together and showing strong relationships between all the characters. To have three books in a row have such unique plots going on in the background while still revolving around the same main characters and their personal battles and relationships- it's just incredible. I loved how this book showed us a much deeper side to Mercedes as well. I did feel like the plot started to feel more predictable than the last two books did, but ultimately I was hooked either way. Great author and great book!
