Everything is different after Zoe and her family experience several deaths of people that they love. But maybe things are starting to look up when a mysterious man shows up and saves Zoe and Jonah's lives. But X isn't a typical person and two worlds are trying to keep him and Zoe apart.
The characters in this book are really well thought through. I mean some of the stuff that the teenage girls say is a little bit unbelievable but overall the characters were really interesting. I thought that their emotions were very well portrayed along with their grief. The relationship between X and Zoe was definitely instalove but I didn't think it was poorly done.
The setting was okay but it was focused on much less than the interactions between the characters. The place where X lives is lovely described and developed so that was interesting. I especially liked how that whole society was developed.
Overall, it was a silly young adult book that delved into some heavy topics. I'm excited to read the next book.
