The problem with this book (and most of the rest of the series) is that it's TOO. DAMN. LONG. There are too many perspectives, too much filler, and it ruins the pacing. When I got to a section that was interesting, I was all in, but then I'd have to read 100 pages of boring story that I just don't care about. Chaol? Yrene? Nesryn? I skimmed every part with them. Except when Chaol and Dorian reunited. That got me. War strategy? Don't care.
But there were parts that were 5 star worthy: the beginning with Aelin being captured, DORIAN MY LOVE, and Lorcan and Elide (my favorite couple of the series FOR REAL for real).
I had a good time reading this series, but also am relieved to be done.
