Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

5.0

This book made me swoon, and I can’t express how much I have related to this book.

The references, the movies and songs, made me so joyful. I knew every single one of the movie quotes and songs being mentioned that it simply made me happy.

Speaking further to this idea of knowing everything mentioned, the modernity was to die for. Reading about a teenage girl being a teenage girl in what seems like the 21st century felt so amazing. I loved being seen? If that makes any sense. Like being a teenager in todays world was so perfectly depicted, especially one who is a hopeless  romantic that loves rom-coms and music (especially Mac Miller).

I saw myself in Liz, and even if the story was unrealistic to an extent and did follow a rom-com theme, she was so fun and heartfelt and put things into words so well to the point where all I could do was laugh and shake my head in full agreement.

All in all, I loved this book and will be re-reading in no time.
