Don't Let Go by Harlan Coben
4.0

THIS WAS CRAZY.

About 90% of the way I honestly thought I was going to review this by saying this was the most straightforward Coben novel I’ve listened to so far. But oh was I super wrong! I should have expected there would be a twist once the entire picture was revealed! This is very very different from any of his previous works that I’ve read so far, but I like how no matter what subject matter he decides to spin his tale he makes it relatable by tackling issues relating to family. This also features one of the most likable protagonists I have read from Coben so far. Nap is made even more relatable by the narration by Steven Webber. What a brilliant voice actor!

That said, there are aspects of this book that feel pretty farfetched. However I didn’t find it hard to really follow along with the story because I thought the core themes were quite thought-provoking. This was a heartbreaking story about grief and loss and regret, and also a story about how we can never ever truly know someone— not even the people closest to us.
