Last year, I wish the graphic novel adaption of Clean Sweep volume 2 will be released in end 2024, but actually the book released in early 2025. Just like volume 1, there's some changes compared to the original material but I can't compare because it had been more than 10 years since I read Clean Sweep. However, I still can enjoy this graphic novel without too much wuss about what change or whatnot.
Volume 2 covered episode 26 to episode finale in Tapas. The story also continued from volume 1, Dina got hurt after facing Dahaka's stalkers and the truth behind Dahaka attack got revealed together with Arland's purpose in coming to Earth. Sean getting an upgrade from a mysterious werewolf in Bahachar while also meet a member of the Sun Horde. I don't really remember if that happen in the book, lol. The art is pretty subpar for my taste but the lineart is defined enough and Shinju Ageha can capture the character's expression, adding some humor to the story. Although, I notice that the action scene were draw to simple. Nothing flashy though, but some panel can be too confusing to read. The Dahaka art is pretty dark and the place that become their battlefield also dark so the art kinda blending and indistinguishable. Some violence acts got blurred especially the scene when Arland decapitate his enemy. Maybe the physical book version cater more into young adult/teenager hence the blurring scene.
There's no news if Tapas will also adapted book 2 Sweep in Peace so Dina, Sean and Arland's adventure kinda wrapped up in this volume. I like the Twilight joke since Sean and Arland are both werewolf and vampire, respectively. There are some romantic moments between Dina and Sean, a hint to what come in the future. This book also have some bonus scene in the end that detailed of what happen for Sean after leaving Gertrude Hunt and going to Nexus.
A nice adaption that I'm sure can be enjoyed if you are Ilona Andrews fans and also a nice introduction to new reader to the world of the Innkeeper Chronicles
