Nightmares! the Sleepwalker Tonic
by Jason Segel, Kirsten Miller
This book was definitely an on-the-mark sequel! I've recently gotten into the habit of dreading sequels as they usually tend to be fillers more than anything else. However, this was not the case for Nightmares! The Sleepwalker Tonic.
This installment, much like the first, had its very own creative, individual plot. Though it is a sequel, it didn't feel like it was dependent on the first novel. Instead, it was a separate, brilliant story simply set in the same universe around the same characters. While the first book created the concept, the second book begins the conflict that I assume will carry on into the rest of the series.
Though I read the book for my younger brother, I think I may have loved it more than he did! I really enjoyed getting back into this fictional universe and re-meeting all the wonderful characters that belong to it. I absolutely loved the world building that took place in the novel and everything that is yet to come. Not all questions are answered by the end of this installment and its ending created an interesting set-up for the next book, of which my little brother and I look forward to!!!
