Seven days to save her son by Alex Lake

5.0

What an absolute cracker this book is. Maggie gets kidnapped early doors she's just a mere 15 years old. She is then held captive against her will and forced to have sex with her kidnapper. I mean if that wasn't bad enough, he then takes any children they have away at three years old. Max will be 3 in seven days. I felt so sorry for Maggie being forced to grow up so fast and deal with this burden of loss over and over. The man is sadistic and what he gets up to above ground is even worse but I don't want to give too much away. I very much enjoyed the narrative of Maggie and her stories of being held captive. But I also equally enjoyed finding out more about her kidnapper and what kind of monster he truly is. Great writing and it keeps you guessing. I also enjoyed the Detective Inspector Wynn's narrative, you are on the literal edge of the seat as she seems to get so close at times to catching the guy. The woman has good gut reactions and is a great judge of character.
I love to catch up with Maggie's family too to see how the loss of their daughter is hitting them hard. But promising to see them stick together as a unit as the years pass. They are on their own journey of torture in the years their daughter is missing. It builds and builds as the days tick by and leads to quite the sensational ending. I really did enjoy this a lot. Narrated really well by Laura Kirman her Max was truly heartbreaking at times embodying the voice of a toddler calling out for his mommy.

I give it a captivating 5 Lucy Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
