Ordinary Monsters by J.M. Miro

4.0

Okay first, this will at some point be a Netflix, HBO something in the future. There's way too much in visual imagery here that any screenwriter would leave that on the table.
I got a very sophisticated beefed up version of HP. You can easily fall in love with all of the characters including the antagonist. There are battle scenes in this book that have been so elaborately created, it made you feel as if you were in that train car, or fighting Jacob at the school.
I fell in love with Alice right when she emerged, Charlie when he is feared and scared in the jail cell, Komako's grief and even Jacob's struggle to do the right thing.
Then you have these 'litches' who seem to be part golem and part scary zombie...
Lastly, this book is super long and there is a lot of development and individual story telling which helps with building out the world Miro has created and the characters. There is a lot left to walk into a second book and yes, I will patiently wait for it because there is nothing ordinary about these monsters.
