The Jewel by Amy Ewing

3.0

Reading this again 9 years later is kind of wild. I still enjoyed it and a lot of my initial thoughts are still the same. The world is interesting and this book is darker than I remember. The instalove was annoying and taking all those risks for a stranger? Hardest of passes. I honestly have no clue what happens next but I’m intrigued.

I wasn't really sure what I was expecting from this book. I found that at multiple parts it very much reminded me of The Selection. The world was incredibly interesting to me and very captivating. I was not a fan of the insta love. It just seemed very unrealistic to me and was kind of off putting. The whole premise of this story is original and very dark in a way. This definitely left off on a cliffhanger. The cover is absolutely gorgeous!
