Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

2.5!

'Lolita' or 'Memories of a deranged and sick man'?

Honestly, I don't know if I'm dumb or I couldn't see the 'amazing' in this 'classic'. I felt stupid and bored reading it, because the writer was digressing too much and I feel like there were too many metaphors and I couldn't imagine in my brain the story I was reading. I would say this book is a 2.5, because the style of writing is not my favourite to be honest, but the story was okay (as much as 'okay' it can be). Interesting and with a happy ending (him in prison).

In my opinion, the storyteller of the book (I would say Humbert Humbert but I've read that Nabókov was too invested in writing about young ladies) wanted to be some sort of writing genious but to me it sounded more of a pretentious a-hole who I hated to my core from the start until the end of the book who was deranged as f*ck. I guess that is the point of the plot, right?
