This was a cute one! The premise is two women sign up for a reality dating show in which they have to convince their families they’re getting married to each in six weeks. One is actually looking for love and the other is using this as an opportunity to step out of her comfort zone and finally come out to her family.

I thought that this book showed a really nuanced view of coming out to a parent who may not be totally on board with their child being gay. About how even acceptance doesn’t feel like acceptance. About people who truly love us still causing harm unintentionally. There were lots of conversations about intent vs. impact with how the mother and daughter interacted after this revelation. This was definitely the part of the book that was most interesting in my opinion.

The romance itself was pretty sweet and the fake dating situation made everything pretty fun! And you know I love a reality show setting. There were a couple spicy scenes, but not too much. I just wish there were more development in the relationship. Felt a touch too insta love for me.

There was nothing I would say I disliked about this book really. I would just say that I wanted more of everything. More backstory. More time to build the relationship. More time spent on the family dynamic. Would read another story about these two!
