The Carrier by Sophie Hannah

2.0

When her plane is delayed overnight, Gaby finds herself sharing a room with Lauren. Lauren is terrified and terrifying, but won't explain why she is scared of Gaby and blurts out something about an innocent man going to prison for a murder he didn't commit. Gaby discovers that the man is Tim... the only man she ever loved... and sets out to prove his innocence. None of the characters are likeable but I was determined to finish the book since I enjoyed earlier ones in this series. The victim was an awful, manipulative woman (Francine) married to Tim (who quotes highly intellectual poetry that most are unable to comprehend). They are supported by Tim's friends, Kerry & Dan, who left their own lives get turned upside-down because they value their friendship with Tim and will put up with a lot of crap from Francine because of it. Even though Gaby is in a relationship with another, she's determined to poke her nose in and ask questions but not answer many put forth by the police. Just about everybody is holding something back from the police so this is a tough case to solve and follow.
