The Reckless Mind: Intellectuals in Politics by Mark Lilla

2.0

While stretching some portraits very coherently (e.g. Arendt and Jaspers' views on Heidegger, Sholem and Adorno's fight over Benjamin) Lilla truely proses some devastating deadlocks. It really seems like he despises some of the thinkers he writes about, and at times doesn't understand some of their work which he writes about, or at least find those texts insightful. When these deadlocks appear his sketches are outrageous, cringe-worthy or just frustrating.
