The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead

5.0

In the book The Ruby Circle the author makes her arguments very clear. She knows when to add more drama or throw in a plot twist to keep everyone reading. As I reading this whole series I noticed that Richelle Mead had a great balance between internal character development and the external action. She had the two main characters, Sydney and Adrian, have a lot of external action and struggle. She started out with Sydney as a woman who hated vampires, loved education and learning new things, and always follow the rules. But she changed when she saw how friendly vampires could be and found out new information that would change her look for the organization she works for. While Sydney struggles to figure out what is right and wrong Adrian is more carefree. He worries about one person and is a party animal. Until he falls in love with a human. Both had great character development to show that changing is possible for certain people. They fell for people they should not have, causing them to have a lot of external action. One of them almost died, multiple times, also getting kidnap and many other things. But because of the great balance between them the story keeps on moving forward. This author's word choices and sentence structure makes me most definitely want to read more.

Being the one of the main characters Sydney has a lot of strengths and weaknesses that are shown. Her weaknesses are as everyone expects them to be. People she holds close to her heart, someone she loves. But that is also one of her many strengths. Aside from the undying love she has for her loved ones, she has her curiosity and eagerness to learn new things as one of her strengths. She always is trying to learn new things, which is how she learns she is a witch. She uses that knowledge she got from being a witch to help the ones she loved and keep everyone safe. Adrian has similar strengths and weaknesses. Just like Sydney his weakness(and one of his strengths) is the ones he loves. He did everything in his power to bring back one of his dear friends and he almost drove himself to insanity for the one he loves dearly. Another one of his strengths is his strong will. He will stay on task no matter what happens to him. He will do anything to help the ones he loves. The ending of the story flows naturally with what we learned in the story. We learned that with the support of their friends and for their loved ones that they would do anything, and is exactly what happens till the end of the book and series.
