The were parts of the book that were very poetic. I am not someone who likes gorey things, and there was quite a bit in here. It was written in such a way that I was able to picture it well. So kudos to the writing, but I was put off. The book is written as though it is the main characters diary. So it starts and stops at times which is interesting. The story kept me guessing, but it was hard to not focus on the torturous details.
