Just Another Liar by Mandy Byatt
4.0

This is a clever take on the all too real and current issue of online dating scams. Just Another Liar sees three 'victims' all being scammed by 'if it looks too good to be true then it probably is' dishy Dr Dave - single, rich, professional and smooth - it's no wonder the three all fall for him. But what luck, he loves them too...

The three ladies all think they are dating him, can't believe their luck and yet none of them have ever met him and seemingly all buy his excuses:

Petra - unhappily married, and arguably just as bad as Dr Dave therefore, she turns to online dating to find a bit of love and fun. Teacher Anna is head over heels in love with Dr Dave despite them having never met. They've messaged and chatted for hours and she is smitten. Denise is desperate for love, validation and a happily ever after. Hardly daring to believe it when the good Dr falls in love with her, she doesn't hesitate to lend him money - why wouldn't she, they are going to be together and it is only a loan and for a very good reason.

There's a good message behind this bittersweet novel and a reminder to be careful out there, Mandy Byatt has crafted some devious characters who somehow bring out the worst in each other. It feels like it could have been a good 'sisters supporting sisters, who even needs a man' tale but it has a nippy little undercurrent just beneath the surface.

My thanks to the author, NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC in return for an honest review.
