A Matter of Death and Life by Marilyn Yalom, Irvin D. Yalom
5.0
emotional hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad slow-paced

This was a moving, deeply important memoir. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to think about older adulthood, death, and grief more deeply. Although the book provides hope for those who fear the end of life, it doesn’t shy away from the tragedy of losing a loved one. I was particularly moved by the love story between the two authors who alternate writing chapters. It wasn’t an easy read due to the subject matter, but it was accessible and insightful. I appreciated that one of the authors was a psychiatrist who specialized in grief - it was interesting to watch an expert reconcile objective research findings with such a deeply personal experience.
