This book simply dragged and dragged. The characters were unlikeable and I couldn't understand their motivations half of the time. They deserved about every bad thing that happened to them and yet it wasn't satisfying to read about when those consequences came through. It's really befuddling to me that Donna Tartt could have written this and The Goldfinch, which was so thoroughly well written and enjoyable.
