Learning to Walk in the Dark by Barbara Brown Taylor

5.0

Listened to this in one day! It was an awesome reflection on the dark and how much we denote negative connotation towards it. Especially in regards to Christianity and the use of such in biblical teachings and preachings. The author takes specific time to sit with the dark and to counteract the feelings to fear we have needlessly learned to associate with it

“new life starts in the dark. Whether it is a seed in the ground or a baby in the womb, or Jesus in a the tomb, it all starts in the dark”

“The only difference between anxiety and excitement was my willingness to let go of fear.”

“Our comfort or discomfort with the outer dark is a good barometer of how we feel about the inner kind.”

“I have learned things in the dark that I could never have learned in the light, things that have saved my life over and over again, so that there is really only one logical conclusion. I need darkness as much as I need light.”

Taylor is becoming one of my favorite spiritual authors and I look forward to reading more of her books!
