The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards

This was just ok. I liked Memory Keeper's Daughter so was looking forward to this. But this lacked the captivating characters and the perfect depiction of guilt. Still flowery language, but without the delicate beauty that she did with the photography themes of MKD.

SPOILERS

The main character seemed to lack motivation and direction. Which I guess mirrored her life, but left this reader feeling like things were unfounded and/or over dramatic. Like telling about her brother's baby for no reason. Or lacking all self-control with her ex. Not sure if I'll go for another Edwards book or not. If so it will be pretty far down the line...a lot more on the shelf that would come up before I tried to see if another was more like LoD or MKD
