Defiance Falls by Ali Dean

5.0

We’re introduced to our main characters, Cruz Donovan and Hazel Ross here in the first book of the trilogy, along with some of Hazel’s cousins, and their group of friends.
This is a soccer town, and a group of high school students, some that actually act their age. Hazel is clearly a 17 year old girl, trying to figure out her place in life, who she is, who she wants to be, and honestly, if I could find them, some of her thoughts are some that could have been pulled out of my senior year journals. Absolutely refreshing. These are not kids with too much authority, or too much power over the adults thy it becomes fantastical.
There is something going on in Defiance Falls that Hazel is unaware of, but the boys are clearly entrenched in. And that cliffhanger, seriously?
Overall, I cannot wait for book 2, I will most definitely be back to visit DF soon!
