Super Powereds: Year 3 by Drew Hayes

4.0

I really liked this book. It was another fun installment of the Super Powereds Series.

Here are some of the things that I liked:
We finally got a battle scene with things on the line. The last battle scene was great! I do wish there was more action, especially with my scenes from the professors. I wanted to see what Sean Pendleton could do!

I’m glad Nick is back. He was easily the best part of year 2 and for his personality to be back really helps make all characters enjoyable.

I liked the growth of Alice. She has definitely had the most growth over the three books, both in personality and in strength. It was funny how highly she thought of herself during the first year to being torn down by Nick and her whole experience. Now she is arguably one of the strongest among them and she is more grounded. The growth makes her more likeable.

I liked all the mysteries that this book introduced. It does seem like a lot for the fourth book to unravel. It’s a good thing it is so long.

Here are some of the things that I didn’t like:

I noticed in this book the author LOVES the word “Training.” There is a constant use of it in every context and I really noticed it in this book

Maybe it’s because I like more darker stories, and this one is a little more tame, but I was hoping that the author would kill off a few more characters during the final battle. I am happy that the author went there by killing off Sasha, however, I was hoping for more.

I also thought it was super corny when all the students were aghast at having to “kill” the sims on their midterms. I liked the scenario and thought it was a cool sequence. I just thought it was so funny that so many students were put off by “killing” the robots. Has no one ever played a first person shooter? I figured people would be fine considering they were not real people.
