A masterpiece. Some of the most careful and precise writing I think I have ever read. Atwood’s vision is vivid and insightful, her knowledge of her characters comprehensive and real. The book is a slow burn, paced to dole out just exactly the right things at the right times. Full of nuance and understanding even towards religion and faith while offering its worst side to be seen and deplored.
