3.0

In the first book, The Atlas Six, it was about survival for our six magicians. In this second book it's about choosing sides, one might say, without revealing too much.

Since I really liked the first book I was a bit disappointed this time. The only thing happening plotwise is that we learn what happened to Libby, who vanished at the end of The Atlas Six. The rest is mostly meaningless conversations between characters and it feels like a typical second book in a trilogy. I'm still somewhat fascinated by the characters and I like some of them, and the fact that they are so different that it's easy to keep them apart. My favorite is actually not one of "the six", but Gideon, Nico's friend.

The multiple narrators also makes it easier to separate the characters, but there's a downside. The narrators have different reading speeds, which makes my chosen speed (1,7) sometimes too fast, and other times too slow. I don't want to change the speed every time the narrator changes, so it became a small disturbance. As of now I feel a bit torn about whether to continue or not, but I guess I'll want to know how it ends eventually.
