Breeze Spells and Bridegrooms by S.O. Callahan, Sarah Wallace

4.5

This book was extremely cute and wholesome! I loved the mix of historical romance and fantasy, plus all the fun tropes like enemies to lovers and fake dating/arranged marriage (kind of a mix of those, which was fun!)

The writing was very strong with beautiful descriptions and very interesting world building. Sometimes the magic systems in fantasy can be under- or over-explained, but I think Breeze Spells and Bridegrooms found the perfect balance here. The setting and story had Bridgerton vibes, and it was queernormative, which I love!

The strongest point of the story, however, was definitely the chemistry between the MCs! And I loved the way their relationship grew in so many interesting ways from start to finish. I generally prefer friends to lovers over enemies to lovers, but it worked so well in this book!

Thank you to the authors for providing me an ARC. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.
