This would’ve been four stars if it was like fifty pages longer. I loved the first half. Some of it was a little info-dumpy but it wasn’t too bad. I really liked the introduction of Ruying and her magic and the world she lived in. But the six month time jump sucks. I wish there had been another fifty pages explaining what happened in that time with Antony so I could understand better why she believes he’s a good man. Sure, he might be the lesser of two evils or whatever but nowhere does it come across to me he’s a good man. I wish we could’ve seen how he managed to convince Ruying of that.

Also don’t understand how people think this is a colonizer romance??? It’s clearly not at all. Like Ruying is going to murder that man and I am READY.
