The two Starz are for Quentin and Quentin only
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this novel. The pacing was off for me and the last 20% dragged and was much unnecessary. For such a short book, it could have done without the last several chapters. The plot...went around in circles even when things 'picked up' it was generally more of the exact same. In the span of like three chapters the main character had literally done the exact same series of actions to the point where if you eliminated them, she'd have still been exactly where she started? I wondered a lot if this novel was inspired by HP Lovecraft's short story The Shadow Over Innsmouth because it was really giving me that vibe. I'm starting to seriously question whether the horror genre is for me. Anyway I liked Quentin a lot, I don't want to diagnose him but I will say he reminds me of persons in my personal life that have issues with communication, socializing and responding to stimuli in a way that most common. I liked him. A lot. And thought that his character was written with a lot of care and kindness and I have to respect that.
