Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

A very solid god fantasy enemies to lovers book. I absolutely love it. It has a lot of the Harry potter clichés but is that a bad thing? That's up to the reader. Personally at first it was slightly jarring but as the plot progressed I realized it was only the world that was similar. The story was quite original and fun to read. I only have 2 faults with the book; one, this book was written in 1st person pov and changes between characters and honestly I didn't feel the changes. I thought there would be differences in the way different characters perceived this world of magic but was slightly disappointed. Two, the ending wasn't quite as dramatic as I wanted it to be. I expected a large and complex fight to death however the ending felt quite flat and normal and very short, spanning maybe 5 small chapters. Maybe it was because I expected something like the Hogwarts War. However the one thing this book excelled at was the enemies to lovers. They felt like enemies, like seriously sworn to death enemies. It wasn't just a mild dislike based on a really stupid misunderstanding. And the transition was perfect from start to ending. Them as lovers was infinitely better with the perfect amount of love and tension and the same fun banter. Just chefs kiss. And my favourite character was Lucy. I just have an unexplicable amount of love for her. I can't say more cause that's spoilery territory. But anyway great enemies to lovers and just a lovely read honestly.
