Zazie in the Metro by Raymond Queneau

3.0

I read his Exercises in Style last year and liked it a lot - especially for the play with language. That is still going on here, but I didn't like this as much. Zazie most of all reminds me of french new wave movies (and those annoy me a lot): A Zany young girl doing "crazy stuff" surrounded by a cast of odd types and weird situations making little sense. Oh and someone in disguise. And that very strange sixties mix of an old traditional tone and oddly placed smutty remarks.
I guess it's a product of it's time - and a very early and modern example... But I didn't have much fun reading it.
