Misleading title and cover. I thought this was going to be another book where the FMC is pregnant, but it's actually about her wanting to BE pregnant / have a baby. As Ruby writes in her author's note, this book was written around a scene of Naomi Flannigan getting railed on a desk by a big blue alien. That guy is Ainar, who is one of the guard custodians on Risda III that we've seen mentioned as a side character in other books. He's described as like a big innocent puppy of a man, it's adorable. Naomi is lonely and wants a baby so she saved up to get the fertility shot but the guy she had to impregnate her left. She's running out of time and asks the first and only custodian she sees, Ainar, to do the deed. What follows is really spicy.
Afterwards, Khex (Ashley's mate) consoles him that he should go after her and bluntly state that he wants to continue being with her. Their night together seems promising but the next morning Rhektar (Lucy's mate) says he's being too pushy and he needs to back off for a human relationship to work. A week passes as Naomi thinks he ghosted her. When she finds out she's pregnant she goes to him to let him know and they reconcile their misundering. Epilogue is 13 months later when she's crazy pregnant and Ainar proposes marriage to her, which she accepts.
