Keane: The Autobiography
by Roy Keane
The first of Roy Keane's autobiographies is a good read. While it may have been written before the conclusion of his footballing career, this autobiography stills packs in a lot of details about his life. What was disappointing about this book is Keane's apathy for Jack Charlton. While I agree with Keane that Charlton was a long ball, no plan-b type of manager and could occasionally act as a bully, when he took over, Jack provided three missing ingredients: self belief, organisation and cohesion to an Irish team that shambocially stumbled out of qualification for the 1986 World Cup. However, I admire Keane's honesty throughout the book and you definitely feel as if he is talking to you directly. Readers should know that when purchasing this book that there is a later reprint which contains an extra chapter. The book rated here is the book that contains that extra chapter.
