I wanted to like this book; I was first drawn to it as the idea of a murder mystery featuring woodland creatures sounded intriguing. But at the end of the day, I just think that "cozy" books are not for me. The characters were weak and the plot weaker. It had a lot of my biggest pet peeves in writing, particularly with the POV switching between different characters and their thoughts in what felt like the same paragraph. Sometimes the book felt like it was written for a middle school-aged kid and sometimes an older reader. Overall, if you're already a fan of cozy mysteries, you'll probably like this. Otherwise, it probably won't live up to your expectations.
