Stephen Fry is an excellent reader, which is hardly surprising. He's also an excellent storyteller and presents the events of the Trojan war in an unusually objective manner.

He's sympathetic and critical of both sides. The heroes are, of course, heroic, but they are also petty, petulant, and sometimes shockingly ruthless. They are not the glorifications made palatable on our screens and in our history books, which serves to emphasise that this was, indeed, a different society with different mores that we may never fully understand. The ancient Greeks and Trojan were like us but also not, universal but also unique.

This is probably the most enjoyable depiction of the Trojan war I've encountered.
