I was excited when I started it and then quickly became uninterested but I still wanted to know how it ended. 
Didn’t love the pacing or dialogue and I wasn’t invested in the characters’ conflicts 

Elise in particular is not my favorite. I also didn’t really like the dialogue - it felt a little too juvenile despite the serious nature of the story (people are literally dying 💀)

The ending also felt like a device to simply extend the story into another book vs having a bigger/ overarching plot line that was mentioned throughout the book
(Maybe I missed the lead up or foreshadowing but it felt random) 

I mainly listened to the audiobook and didn’t love it. It was difficult to keep track of pov changes but the narrator did a great job with the other characters

Don’t think it was awful but not for me and I probably won’t continue the series
