Oh, my goodness. I adored this book. Adored it. The author drops you right in to a world that feels lived in. These characters know each other. They have lives of their own and history with each and everything and everyone felt vibrant and alive and meshed together in a fully realized, wholly believable way. I simply cannot give enough praise to how much I enjoyed the interactions between the lead and the supporting characters.
The author did a fine job of intertwining the character develop with the mystery plot, giving both elements equal weight and pacing. I confess that some of the detective elements required my suspension of disbelief to be strained a twinge, it never pushed to the point of breaking. Furthermore, the charming interaction between the three leads always quickly erased any mild irritation I may have had.
I am definitely excited at the prospect of more of this series.
