Heartstopper Volume 5 by Alice Oseman

5.0

Per usual, I giggled and cried multiple times. Sometimes I forget at how great the author does at making you care about the characters and feel for them. For this volume specifically, it did a really good job at tackling topics like communication around sex (and asexuality!), the importance of having relationships out of romantic ones, and finding a balance between your future and your relationships. Even though the way the characters react to some experiences are no longer things I can relate to, they're realistic and so important for teens their age to see themselves in, and Alice Oseman never misses with depicting them in a sensitive matter. I'm hoping the next volume will touch more on how Nick and Charlie are learning to be less dependent on each other, and how they'll manage a long-distance relationship.
