I Believe in a Thing Called Love
by Maurene Goo
Ahh this was soooo much fun to read. It embodied my epic love for kdramas mixed with YA contemporary romance; and honestly it was such a heartwarming combination. This honestly felt like a kdrama from start to finish and it was so dramatic and unrealistic (sometimes) and adorable I just loved reading it. Also the kdrama references throughout got me a bit too excited (I've literally seen almost every kdrama mentioned in this book... who's surprised? Not me.)
Although it wasn't particularly groundbreaking the diverse rep was something I thoroughly enjoyed even though I felt like there was something missing in this book. I just can't pinpoint exactly what it is.
But, I'd have to say my biggest issue with this book is the usage of ableist language, although I know the author probably did not intend for it to come off that way it was still a bit iffy to see a lot of those words used. Could've been way better without them.
[3.75/5 stars]
