This is one of the most refreshing books I’ve read in quite a while. It offers a magical and optimistic view of our future, a world I would give anything to live in and experience. The author described the society and the physical settings so beautifully. I could imagine the places in the book and ached to actually visit. I would also give anything to have a cup of tea with Dex. They were an amazing and relatable character. On the one hand, they are so kind and patient and determined and confident. On the other hand they are struggling with their sense of purpose, which is something I think everyone can relate to. Mosscap offers such an amazing perspective in contrast to Dex. There were similarities I could not help but notice and really made me think. Mosscap was also just adorable. I love the way the author created the idea of wild built robots, and robots adopting death. Of course, for me  the star of the show was the crickets. This was a deeply philosophical read, discussing humanity, technology, the environment, life and death. Yet at the same time being a lighthearted story about a monk and a robot.
