dark emotional hopeful sad

2.0

Joseph's life is tragic, but not realistic. I'm sorry.

This book didn't do much for me. I'm sorry. I know a lot of people found this to be very emotional, but I'm not one of them. I did get a little sad though.

I agree that the issues dealt with in this book are highly sensitive and heart breaking. And that it represents a lot of untold life stories across the world. But I really really REALLY couldn't bring myself to take it seriously. The story and interactions between characters felt soooo unrealistic. They were  thirteen (THIRTEEN). I don't think a thirteen year old kid is capable of feeling that deep of a fatherly love Joseph is showing(or becoming a father in the first place).

Maybe I'm not as emotionally intelligent as I thought. It was a mistake from my side to read this book. I have a history of not really liking books of this kind(The Perks of Being a wall flower kind).

Overall, it is a short book. It took me hardly over an hour to complete. So if you like this kind, give it a shot.
