ok. look. listen. am i a bad feminist for liking this? yeah. am i embarassed a little to have devoured most of this in a three hour sitting and jumping anytime someone asked me what it was about? sure. am i sorry for party rockin? hell no
i'm ALL for romance books finally being marketed/given cover art that treats the author's work like authors of any other genre, because it's less embarassing to tote around and makes people like myself - who do not consider themselves romance fans - willing to give it a shot. this was so fun and charming, and i'm finding what makes a "five star" book for me boils down to pacing, and the pacing in this was incredible. it never lingered too long and didn't move to fast, and i wanted to squeeze in just one more chapter every time it came to having to put it down.
there are like, massive issues with this book - i find marketing a book as "feminist" but having your love interest start off as a conservative uh... a little troubling! sebastian's clear abuse of his brother is also conveniently never really squared away or challenged in any real way. and the gendered and sometimes violent language was a bit much sometimes. but like.... i had fun! who cares! we're in the middle of a pandemic and i just wanted to read some fanfic style smut and wild out!
