Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs

4.0

[4.5 stars] what a captivating and truly enchanting debut novel by emma torzs!!! this story started off slow for me, but once i hit the ~25% mark, i was absolutely hooked. this is also the first time i accompanied my read with the audiobook when i couldn’t give it my full attention!! i thought that added to the intrigue of it all! this book felt like a breath of fresh air to me and is definitely unique in the world of fantasy novels. with magical books activated by blood, libraries and book collections full of mysterious spells, ink blood sister scribe is not short of whimsy, fun, or danger. after really getting into the plot, i thought it had great pace and timing, and the intricacies of all the characters’ relationships with one another played out perfectly. their histories and destinies were so clearly intertwined, i was on the edge of my seat waiting for everything to come to light. so well crafted and executed! i would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a short but powerful contemporary fantasy.
